Editorial Policy

Our Editorial Mission
FinRatePro is committed to publishing the most accurate, transparent, and trustworthy financial, marketing, business, and SEO calculators on the internet. This Editorial Policy documents the standards and processes that govern every piece of content we publish.
Our content follows the E-E-A-T framework (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) that Google uses to evaluate Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) content. Every page is researched, written, reviewed, and fact-checked by qualified humans.
Content Production Workflow
Every page on FinRatePro follows a six-stage production pipeline:
- Research (SME): A subject-matter expert compiles primary sources, key facts, formulas, and competitor analysis. Output: research brief with citations.
- Outline (Editor): An editor structures the brief into our 11-section template, assigns word counts, and identifies FAQ questions from "People Also Ask" data.
- Draft (Writer): A writer produces the first draft. AI tools may be used for research assistance and outline expansion, but every sentence is human-authored.
- Expert Review (SME): A subject-matter expert reviews the draft for technical accuracy, checks every formula and citation, and signs off on the methodology.
- Fact-Check & Copy Edit (Editor): An editor verifies every claim has a citation, runs originality checks, and fixes grammar and style.
- Publish: The page is published with author byline, last-reviewed date, and next-review date.
AI Usage Policy
FinRatePro uses AI tools (LLMs) only for the following purposes:
- Research summarization from primary sources
- Outline expansion during the writer's drafting stage
- Grammar and style suggestions during copy editing
AI is never used to generate the final published text. Every page is human-written, human-reviewed, and human-fact-checked. Every page is run through Originality.ai before publication; pages with an AI-detection score above 20% are returned for rewriting. This policy is our primary defense against scaled-content-abuse and is non-negotiable.
Author Credentials
Every published page has a named author with a public bio page. Author bio pages include:
- Professional credentials (CFA, CPA, MBA, or equivalent)
- Relevant industry experience
- Areas of expertise
- Links to verified professional presence (LinkedIn)
For finance content, at least one author holds a CFA or CPA designation. For marketing and SEO content, authors have 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Citation Standards
Every factual claim must be backed by a citation to an authoritative source. Acceptable sources include:
- Government statistics (BLS, Census Bureau, IRS, SEC)
- Peer-reviewed academic research
- Regulatory guidance (CFPB, FTC, FINRA)
- Established financial data providers (Federal Reserve, World Bank)
Unacceptable sources include other calculator sites, content farms, AI-generated content, and uncited Wikipedia articles. The minimum citation requirement is 3 citations per page.
Review & Refresh Schedule
Every page displays a "Last Reviewed" date and a "Next Review Due" date. Finance pages are reviewed at least annually. Pages with time-sensitive content (tax brackets, interest rates) are reviewed quarterly. The refresh schedule is tracked in our editorial calendar and enforced via calendar reminders.
Corrections Policy
We handle corrections transparently. If a factual error is discovered post-publication, we correct it promptly and record the correction in a public corrections log. The log records the date corrected and the nature of the correction. To report an error, email contact@finratepro.com with "Correction" in the subject line.
